Stickhouse at Sunway Pyramid

Have you ever tried the Italian Handcrafted Gelato? If you haven't then maybe you might want to try out this awesome sensation at this newly opened and innovative healthy gelato concept from Italy which is called Stickhouse. On the 10th December 2011 which is on a Saturday, I attended the grand opening of Stickhouse at Sunway Pyramid.

So what's so special about this Italian Handcrafted Gelato?
Combining the homemade tradition of the Italian art of gelato making and up-to-date technology, we introduce gelato on a stick that has proven popular in many countries. Stickhouse ice cream parlors are available around the world in more than 30 cities. With a strong fan base already in Europe, Middle East and Asia, it is now rapidly expanding in Asia with shops in Seoul, Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, and now Malaysia.

Below are some of the facts why the gelatos they produced are so healthy...

Stickhouse gelatos are produced using ONLY 100% natural and genuine ingredients used without adding artificial flavouring, colouring, or preservative. Fresh fruit, milk and cream together with the "Stickhouse Bases" and the decorations guarantee a healthy, full-bodied product with a persistent taste. Just what do we have in our bases that is so healthy? Well, check out the ingredients below:

Inulin – A vegetable fibre extracted from chicory, inulin increases the absorption of calcium, aids digestion, and reduces cholesterol.

Fructose – A low glycemic index (GI) natural product contained in fruits, honey and some vegetables and plants. It’s suitable for fine recipes and light diets.

Carob Bean Flour – They are a wonderful gift of nature. Recommended for digestive disorders. In the ice-cream recipe they work as a natural stabilizer.

Sodium Caseinate – It’s a high quality protein product obtained by fresh pasteurized skimmed milk.

Egg White – It’s an excellent pure protein source with a high biological value, fat free. In the ice cream recipe, it helps to blend air into the mixture, naturally.

High quality chocolate is a “heart friend” which helps the cardiovascular system to stay healthy.

Apart from using healthy ingredients, the techniques they use in the production of their stick gelatos make a huge difference too. A lot of ice cream manufacturers churn their ice cream by 'whipping' their ingredients and adding air, which increases the volume of any frozen dessert. It is a fact that manufacturers take full advantage of this to produce and sell more of their product.

The air added to ice creams could go up to 120%, and even high quality ice creams have air added as much as 50%. By adding air, most of the ingredient's original and natural flavors are lost. To compensate such loss, the ice cream producers are forced to use artificial flavors. Gelatos on the other hand, uses a slower churning method, and have an average of only 25% air resulting in a denser, creamer texture than that of ice cream. It also retains more of the original flavors of the ingredients used.

Now having said that, Stickhouse gelatos are produced WITHOUT ADDING AIR. Yep, that’s right. Zero air is added in our production, so the denser and creamier texture with full taste and flavors you feel when enjoying one of our sticks are 100% genuine and natural......A triumph of naturalness and taste that leaves you speechless….when the gelato is synonymous with art, passion and imagination.

In a split second, here you go...

Rebecca enjoying her gelato stick...

Take a look at Felix's face, I guess he must be really enjoying his sorbet stick (it's lemon btw)
together with Feeq.

I like Giandula (mix of hazelnut and chocolate) the best! :)

Overall, their gelato taste good and healthy since they only use natural and genuine ingredients. Having said that, it's good to have them once in a while but if I would to pay almost 10 bucks just for a gelato on a stick then it can be too costly for me. Personally I'm not a fan of gelato or froyo and so I would still prefer to go to Baskin Robbins to have my ice-cream on Pink Day! Hehe...

During the grand opening, there was lion dance performances and every customers are given 20% off when they purchase any of the gelato on that very day.
